THIS WEEK's Science Homework

Cottontail Parents,

This week, I am excited to open our classroom to a group of University of Iowa Education students. They are eager to step into our room to teach two Science lessons on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.

They have asked me to let you know that they need your family's help. Please see their message below.

THIS Wednesday, April 25th each student will receive one Ziploc bag and one grocery bag to collect all trash they would have thrown away during the course of Wednesday's afternoon, evening, Thursday morning, and through Thursday at school.

Please place any leftover FOOD SCRAPS in the ZIPLOC BAG. Be sure to keep the bag zipped closed when not placing items inside it. Examples of food scraps may include: banana peels, apple cores, leftovers from sandwich, extra crackers, etc.

Please place ALL OTHER TRASH that you would normally throw away in the large grocery bag. Examples of trash may include: paper towels, napkins, wrappers, etc.

Students will discuss their collected trash during Thursday's lesson with the University students.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Look for Ziploc bag and grocery bag to go home after Wednesday's Science lessons. Thanks for your at-home help!
