Happy Halloween & Feliz Dia de los Muertos

Last week was full of fun activities celebrating both Halloween and Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos).  The Cottontails looked so cute in their costumes and were thrilled to play a large part of Friday's Day of the Dead celebration.  Take a look at some of the fun photos below.  I've included a video of their Day of the Dead performance for your enjoyment, too.

Happy Halloween!
Feliz Dia de los Muertos!
and
Happy November!

Decorating Pumpkins - Students transformed their pumping into animal of their choice.  Their animal had to be from one of their biome groups.

Decorating Pumpkins - The chosen animal was a secret.  It's identity wasn't to be revealed until the big Pumpkin / Costume Reveal on Halloween morning.

Decorating Pumpkins - In addition to our animal pumpkins, Kindergarteners used tissue paper and mod podge to decorate mini pumpkins (calabazas) for their Dia de los Muertos performance.

All dressed up!

Halloween Reading time with our Partners!

Cleaning out pumpkins to carve.  Students made predictions regarding the number of pumpkin seeds they thought they saw in each of our two pumpkins.  We'll count by 5s and 10s to determine the answers.

Dia de los Muertos Alter - Remembering those that passed away.  Students remembered family members, pets, and friends.

The Kindergarteners surprised us all with a wonderful song about pumpkins (calabazas).  Click on the link to check it out!  It is too sweet!
