DEAR Day (Celebrating Authors) - Monday, March 3

Monday, March 3 will be filled with the love of reading and writing at Willowwind!  Please join us for two events that celebrate our love of literacy.

Family Partner Book Share - You're Invited!!
Family Partner Book Share will take place from 2:00 - 2:30 PM in the GD Space.  All Willowwind families are invited to come read the books that your children have written for their partner.  We have all worked hard on this project, and we are thrilled to share them with you!!  The students began this process in October by interviewing another member of their partner family about their likes and interests.  They then wrote stories for that person and included them as the main character in the story.  Since these books were created as a gift for another student, your children will not be bringing home their own work.  Instead they will bring home the book that someone else made for them.  If you are not able to join us, all books will be on display within the next week near the Front Desk for your viewing pleasure!

DEAR Day (PJ Day)
In honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday, Willowwind students (along with students all over the world) will

DEAR time will follow immediately after the Family Partner Book Share, from 2:30 - 3:15 PM.  Students are invited to wear pajamas to school on this day and bring ONE cozy item to cuddle up with while we spend the afternoon reading in the GD Space.  Pillows, stuffed animals, and blankets have all been popular choices in past years.  Please help your child make decisions that will allow them to be comfortable without being distracted.

In addition, DEAR Day will end our upcoming Dr. Seuss author study.  We can't wait to learn more about Dr. Seuss and use his books and stories to inspire us in our own reading and writing.  On Monday, March 3, we will also be celebrating his birthday with a yummy Dr. Seuss themed treat and a Dr. Seuss movie - either The Lorax and/ or Horton Hears a Who.  Both movies are rated G, but please let me know if yo have concerns about showing either film.

We look forward to seeing families bond together over books at this special event!
