The Cottontails have been showing their love all week. They have shown their love for their families, their friends, their school, and their belongings. Their constant rapport between one another is filled with love, compassion, and encouragement. "Way to go", "Congratulations", "I love you", "I'm proud of you", and "You should be proud" are regular comments in our friends' conversations. It is so sweet to hear them say such wonderful things. Secret Valentine Week was a huge success. We had so much fun at our school wide reveal. The students loved analyzing their clues, putting the pieces of the mystery together, trying to discover who their secret friend was. Thank you for all your at home help in making it a wonderful weeklong event!
On Valentine's Day we played HEART Bingo with candy conversation hearts.

The students also graphed their hearts to see how many of each color they got. It was a "sweet" way to practice our graphing skills.

Thank you to Stella's family who provided the strawberry ladybug treats. They were a fun addition to our morning of love! We also read a variety of Valentine books and tried to answer the question "What is love?". The Cottontails' responses were oh so cute. Check out our graphic organizer that details our answers.

The class then wrote about people and things they love and why. One friend melted my heart when they wrote, "I love you because of all the things you do for us and me." We continued to show our love as a whole school by working with our partners, decorating hearts ,and writing reasons why we love Willowwind. Look for our Willowwind hearts to decorate our school walls in the coming days.
Our upcoming Authors' Cocoa event is another way to show our love - our love for writing and reading. We hope to see you NEXT Friday, February 24th from 1:00 - 3:00. We have made invitations to send to special family members. If your child has someone special in mind please email me their address (before NEXT Monday) and we will send an invite to them.
In addition, I am in need of parent volunteers. Volunteers are needed to help prepare cocoa and treats before the start of the event, and volunteers are needed to help with serving at the end of the event. Please use this Authors' Cocoa Volunteer Sign-Up Sheet if you are interested in helping out. Thank you so much!
Hope you enjoyed your Valentine's Day with the ones you love!
Don't forget our week of love comes to an end with these important reminders.
TOMORROW:
